What it is made of
| measured on this shelf, and the figures are on the line | every family ships lining figures and only lining figures, and in Drew Grotesk they stand on the baseline and top out at the cap: the 1, 4 and 7 sit exactly on 0 and 700, and every curve in the others passes the line or the cap by 13 units, the O's own 13 | read off all 84 files with fontTools, 2026-09-28. On the shelf of 2026-09-24 the 0, 3 and 8 ran from 57 units under the baseline to 57 over the cap, the 2 topped out at 809 and the 5, 6 and 9 went 86 to 100 under the line: the old fault left in the figures after the letters were fixed, because the baseline gate measures H, n, x, E and L and never saw a digit. The foundry reseated the figures on 2026-09-28 |
| what the numbers looked like before they were looked at | five of the ten read as descending below the H's foot, by 29 to 43 units of 1000 | measured 2026-09-11 on a build that was replaced before it shipped, and read then as the round bowls overshooting. On the shelf of 2026-09-24 the curved digits ran 57 to 100 units under the line, three to seven times the O's own 13, so it was not an overshoot: it was the figures carrying the fault the letters no longer did. On the shelf of 2026-09-28 they run 13 under, the O's own |
| and there is no alternative to them | no face here carries onum | there is no GSUB table in ANY of the 84 files, so the OpenType feature that would carry this cannot be reached at all: it is absent, not merely unused |
